Day time Provision
A range of learning opportunities is available during the day at Bluebirds. Schools can access our “Junior Academy”, which is based on the PFS sessions, but aimed at a lower age group. Gifted and Talented workshops are available for Primary children; the “History Detectives” groups use primary and secondary sources to explore the local environment, recording their research findings as film shows to share with their schools - The project investigates How and Why Barrow grew from 30 families in 1845 to almost 70000 by the 1890's.
Adult Learning
Adult Learning is available too, students can obtain vocational qualifications at NVQ2 and 3 for Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. Bluebirds Study Centre is in partnership with Cumbria Adult Learning and holds City and Guilds Centre status.
There are also some opportunities for Family Learning.
Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools
As a City and Guilds accredited centre we can offer NVQ2 and NVQ3 in “Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools”. Our team of assessors support students to gather evidence set against the national standards for Teaching Assistants and equip them for this ever changing professional role. We can provide training sessions for schools to promote team building within the staff team, addressing cohesion issues and helping to develop relationships between teachers and teaching assistants.
